Are Raycon Earbuds Noise Canceling?

Do Raycon Earbuds Have Noise Cancellation?

Raycon earbuds do not have active noise cancellation. However, you can get them to cancel noise by passive means. If you change the silicon gel tips on your earbuds you’ll probably end up with a size that fits well enough to cancel outside noise.

Why are Raycon Earbuds so popular?

The Raycon brand, based in New York City, was founded by platinum music star Ray J. This private company develops wireless audio products and is also known for the success of its earbuds.

Raycon also develops headphones, accessories, and other products like leather bags and charging cables.

For a relatively new brand in the market, Raycon has done an excellent job with their products. The quality of their earbuds has helped them compete successfully with massive brands like Google Pixel Buds, Sony, Samsung, and Apple.

They have used celebrity marketing to create a luxurious appeal for their headphones and earbuds. Much of that comes from Ray J’s celebrity influence.

Drake, Snoop Dogg, Brandy, Ne-yo, and other celebrities have endorsed Raycon earbuds, making them popular amongst their fans.

This exposure has also helped increase their brand visibility and sales across the world. The prestige that comes with owning a pair of Raycon earbuds also helps justify their high price

However, if you want to buy Raycon earbuds, you want to know what exactly you’re getting. If you’re like me, you like your music free of any nuisance. This begs the question: do the Raycon earbuds have noise-canceling technology?

In this article, I will help you understand what noise-canceling really is and whether Raycon earbuds have this technology. Let’s get into it right away.

Check is Raycon Earbuds Waterproof?

What is Active Noise Cancellation?

Active Noise Cancellation uses anti-noise frequencies to cut out external sounds before you hear them. This is how that system works. In a feed-forward noise canceling system, an outward-facing microphone detects external sounds. Then, a noise-canceling system inverts these external soundwaves and produces anti-noise that neutralizes them.

Many earbuds in the market now also use a feedback system to cancel our inward noise. An inward-facing microphone uses this system to neutralize unwanted noise from inside your ear. This effectively cancels out internal noises that friction and movement cause.

What is Passive Noise Cancellation?

Passive Noise Cancellation works a bit differently. Instead of using chipsets and microphones, it uses intelligent ear cup and earbud designs to cancel out noise. The ear cup or the earbud itself keeps the unwanted noise out.

Which is better: Active or Passive Noise Cancellation?

My answer? It entirely depends on the situation you’re in.

Here’s why:

Many high-end earbuds and headphones don’t come with active noise cancellation systems. Yet they rank high on performance. Why is that? Noise Control takes away from the general quality of sound.

To eliminate ambient noises, active noise-canceling earbuds add counter frequencies that, in turn, degrade sound quality. Sometimes, you don’t want that to happen.

Active noise control also puts pressure on your ears. When turned on, you feel certain pressure against your ears that’s much like what you’d feel inside a plane ascending to cruising altitude. You’ll notice it. While it’s not a painful feeling, it may be uncomfortable and unpleasant to some people.

Most DJs, sound engineers and other professionals favor passive noise-canceling headphones for this reason.

The good news? Most headphones and earbuds now allow you to turn off active noise cancellation. With such settings, you enjoy the freedom you desire. You can now toggle noise cancellation on/off and see how it affects the quality of the sound you hear.

What’s more, active noise control helps when you’re listening to your audio at lower volumes. Tuning out surrounding noises helps you hear with better clarity. This, in my opinion, outweighs any downsides.

Active noise canceling is ideal if you’re looking to enjoy your audios, videos, or podcasts from noisy areas or spaces. There’s also the advantage of turning noise control off if you don’t like that experience.

Passive noise control works best for people who want to enjoy the unadulterated sound. Naturally, this would be sound engineers and DJs.

Get earbuds or headphones with passive noise control if you also want to block out ambient noise entirely instead of just neutralizing it.

What are the cons of Raycon?

The Raycon brand makes excellent earbuds, headphones and phone accessories but just like every other product on the market they have some downsides.

Heavy Sound

Raycon earbuds are an exceptional fit when you wear them, and they have both a volume and bass boost. However, the bass boost can be quite heavy to the ear. The EQ is slightly off, and the bass overpowers the mid sounds.

What you get is cymbals and treble sounds coming into focus with the highs, balancing out with the bass but that’s it. Everything else falls into the background.

If you love bass, you should be fine with them. If you’re looking for depth or range of sound, Raycon earbuds won’t impress you. They are also louder than most earbuds but this volume boost tends to distort the sound. That’s quite a downside as well.

Micro-USB Charging

USB-C charging is much faster, and it feels like a step-down to charge Raycons with a Micro-USB cable. That’s not so bad considering Raycon earbuds last up to 6 hours on battery and up to 24 hours with the charging case.

However, for their price point, Raycon earbuds would do better with USB-C charging.

No Codec Support

Raycon earbuds have no codec support and have no AAC. This strips their sound quality for iPhone users, sadly. Check more about Racon compatibility with iPhone.

Poor Connectivity

Bluetooth connectivity can trip up sometimes, and compared to other brands, Raycons simply don’t hold up. Keeping your phone on you at all times helps and you likely won’t have this issue.

However, if you end up in a place with a lot of interference like, say, an airport, they won’t do as well as you’d expect.

What are the Pros of Raycon?

Raycon makes excellent earbuds, and getting them for yourself is a stellar decision especially if you love style. Here are some other pros:

Ergonomic fit

One thing that impressed me about the Raycon earbuds is how well they fit. They fit right into the ear and feel comfortable. I could wear them for long and not feel their weight or pressure.

In fact, I was just as surprised as anyone was that many Raycon owners feel like they fit better than Apple’s Airpods. After wearing them, I agree.

Design

Raycon packages their earbuds with a strong aesthetic appeal. They’re amazing to look at. They come in a beautiful package that contains a manual, a micro-USB charging cable, and a set of 6 pairs of silicone rubbers in different sizes.

High Volume and Bass

Unlike other earbuds in the market, Raycon gets a bass boost and a volume boost. So if you like your music loud, I can assure you that they are nothing short of impressive. The bass is lively and you can get it as loud as you want. Consider them if you like your beats hard and heavy.
